Biography
Marianna Volskaya is a film director, screenwriter and creative producer who creates fiction, documentary, television and social impact projects. Her professional interests center on authentic human stories, social issues and cinema’s ability to address important problems through personal experience.
She graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), specializing in fiction and documentary directing, dramaturgy and screenwriting.

She works in film and commercial production, directing fiction and documentary films, commercials and music videos, as well as writing screenplays. The companies for which she has created film and video projects include Sberbank, Schlumberger, SIBUR, Severstal, Gazprombank, VimpelCom, Danone, Kaspersky Lab, Bayer, Novartis, Abbott, LUKOIL, Pernod Ricard, O’KEY, Samolet, the Russian Quality System, Crocus Group and other Russian and international companies.

Social impact projects
Her original social impact projects form a distinct part of her practice. Marianna created and directed Following My Dream, a series of stories about young people facing difficult circumstances and the people who help them take their first steps toward independent living. Gosha Kutsenko, Evgeny Tkachuk, Alexander Petrov and Zoya Berber participated in the project.
Marianna is also the creator and director of the documentary series What Children Kept Silent About, or When the Thread Breaks, based on real stories and exploring childhood experiences, family relationships and the consequences of adults’ actions. The project is in production. She has held a number of charitable events for parents, screening her work and inviting specialists to discuss it.
Much of her professional experience involves working with children and teenagers from different social backgrounds. Through her projects, she seeks to create space for open conversation, help her subjects be heard and draw public attention to issues that often remain outside public discussion.
Expertise and professional activity
Volskaya also serves as an expert at the Perm International Forum of Volunteers and as a jury member at the Na Vzlyot film festival and the Before and After 16 family film festival, assessing creative work and socially significant initiatives.
Alongside directing and screenwriting, she has professional experience as a film stunt double.
Creative approach
Her professional approach combines directing, screenwriting and producing with a deep interest in people and their stories, and a commitment to creating projects with both artistic and social value.
